But what if it's not working? Launch the Settings app and tap Accessibility. If you then change your mind, give the iPhone a shake again and the text can be replaced by tapping "Redo" when you're prompted. As you do so, you'll be asked to tap "Undo" to confirm. Made a mistake in a text message? No need to reach for the delete button on the keyboard - you can quickly delete a word or sentence if you shake your iPhone.
